I have local tax and international accounting and investment experience (including currency trading). I am not tied to any financial
institution
and
don't have to promote expensive and inferior institutional products. I adopt a buy and hold approach and will only
sell should the fundamental picture
deteriorate, consequently transactional fees are greatly reduced. Investments are only made
in so called growth businesses and cyclical stocks
when they offer value.
My accounting skills allow me to perform good fundamental analysis. I use limited technical analysis because I am not a trader.
Technical Analysis is over rated, it is merely a rough guide to timing the market. Investment in fundamentally sound businesses
that are good strong cash generators offer higher return with lower risk.
I specialise in self funding margined portfolio's that allow more money to be put to work safely over the long term. I am not under
tremendous
pressure to perform like the average fund manager who has to perform on a quarterly basis or face possible retrenchment.
Often this causes
short term performance and longer term underperformance or even serious loss. A common mistake is that you
need high risk to get high return,
which is nonsense. I may invest in any market anywhere in the world - wherever there are good
listed businesses. The opportunities are limitless.
I believe that one should always be in the stock market and just vary the stock
selection and the cash allocation to suit current conditions.
I am not an equity salesman - I do all my own research. In my experience many salesmen can't draw up a set of company accounts
let
alone analyse them. They rely on the research department which is good at producing "Buy" recommendations but seems to
forget about "Sell" recommendations. Many equity salesman have not qualified as stockbrokers, not passed professional exams.
If you ask the average equity salesman about any share he will have a comment to make. Most of the time that comment is useless
because it
is
impossible to know accurately what is going on with every different share. I will not make such comments unless I
have done the research.
At all times you retain control over your investments. The accounts are in your name - you can access them online or get paper
statements from
the
institution that is providing the trading platform. As an independent investment advisor my fees are less than
traditional fund managers.
S.I.S. uses reputable overseas institutions that offer reasonably priced trading platforms so as to minimize transaction costs.
I am passionate about the financial markets and keep a constant eye on world economic developments and I intend to create an
enduring relationship with my clients.
